Versace unveils the latest innovation in footwear with the launch of Versace Mercury, its new collection of unisex sneakers. Crafted in fine calf leather and united by a distinctive sole, the three models of sneakers comprising the Versace Mercury family symbolize a versatility with futuristic design and emphasize Versace's dedication to the most innovative craftsmanship. The Versace Mercury sneaker is not just a shoe; it is an artifact from the future. Versace Mercury transcends both time and space with the aim of creating connections: the intertwined cords and iconic Greek details are not just design elements but symbolize unity, serving as a bridge between past and future, tradition and innovation, familiarity and the unknown. This theme harkens back to Versace's heritage, as evidenced by the advertising campaigns of the '80s and '90s - where the presence of cords within the images depicted the ties between people, places, and times - and the famous photos that defined Versace, elaborating concepts such as strength, sense of community, and self-assurance.
Each Versace Mercury sneaker embodies Versace's dedication to high-level craftsmanship: for each pair of shoes, 16 meters of cord are hand-woven, with a weaving and application process taking over three hours. The design also features a distinctive zigzag weave and 30 precisely sewn components to create the upper and lining of each pair, thus becoming a testament to innovative craftsmanship and constant research. The upper is characterized by a series of hand-woven laces, which add dynamism to the design. The new EVA sole, decorated with the maison's Greek motif, and hand-painted interiors ensure comfort and lightness. Sophisticated customization details include the Versace logo on the plated metal heel, tongue, and eyelets, and a tonal jacquard Greek motif ribbon. The model's corresponding code, country of production, and sizes are printed on the back of the tongue. A team of 27 artisans worked on assembling all the elements with great care, creating a shoe completely Made in Italy that captures the essence of Versace and its heritage.
