Walter Chiapponi exits Blumarine

The news has caught everyone by surprise: Walter Chiapponi leaves Blumarine after just one season. The decision seems to have been motivated by serious personal issues. The designer himself, on January 2nd, had posted on Instagram recounting the various losses he suffered during 2023 and mentioned them again in his statement to the press: «First of all, my thanks go to Marco Marchi, who made it possible, but also to all those without whom I could not have expressed myself as I did. I refer, in particular, to the people I have loved and who are no longer with us, but who continue to inspire strong emotions within me».

The designer will take a break from his work in fashion (beyond personal losses, 2023 must have also been a rather hectic and stressful year between leaving Tod's and joining Blumarine), dedicating himself to humanitarian and social projects «before returning, at the right time, to the catwalk». As for the brand, a new phase opens up in which collections will probably be signed by the internal team while waiting for a new creative director to be identified.
