"Tod's enjoys significant international visibility. Moreover, the world considers Italy a great country, from its monuments to its food. For this reason, anything we can improve in Italy will give us an advantage in terms of international reputation," said Diego Della Valle, CEO of the Tod's Group Tod's. The group has allocated €2.5 million for the renovation of Palazzo Marino, a historic building in Milan located in Piazza della Scala, built between 1557 and 1563. The refurbishment of the building includes work on the external facade, which covers an area of 57,333 square meters, and the internal courtyard, which covers 23,938 square meters. Beppe Sala also emphasized the matter, highlighting how the building is part of the culture and history of the city.
This is a non-profit initiative. Tod's decision is a gesture of love towards the city of Milan and Italy. "It would be nice if companies made an effort to collaborate. There are many other projects that can be carried out throughout the country, and I hope that, with an initiative like Palazzo Marino, the curiosity and interest of other companies can grow," added Della Valle. Among the brands that could support this initiative is Zegna, which, according to WWD, will finance the maintenance of flower beds in Piazza Duomo. This is not the first time that the Tod's Group has acted as a benefactor to Italy. In 2013, they began a project for the renovation and modernization of the Colosseum in Rome. The external facade works were completed in 2016, while the construction of a service and welcome area for visitors from around the world is scheduled for spring 2024.
