Moncler re/icons celebrates the brand's history
Three re-editions uncover an icon that made history

Moncler's first Kakaroum jacket was born in 1954, 69 years ago. Inspired by the name of the mountain range in Asia, it immediately became one of the brand's flagship garments, an offering of technological excellence for life in the mountains that achieved iconic status the very year it was launched, thanks to the feat of Achille Compagnoni and Lino Lacedelli, who climbed K2 with it. Today, Moncler has decided to celebrate the jacket's history with RE/ICONS, a project that rediscovers the Kakaroum in three re-editions that make the jacket even more strongly united with the brand's basic objective, innovation. RE/ICONS projects a garment that has written Moncler's history into the future, as a reminder of the brand's technological advancement and the progress to come.
While last year Moncler devoted itself to revisiting the Maya jacket on the occasion of the brand's 70th anniversary, this year the brand's design team was able to dive back into perfecting a pillar of the maison. Studying the composition, then the history of the jacket, the project questions the concept of icon, fantasising about all the mountains this jacket has been able to explore with Moncler customers and the experiences it has been able to take part in, leaving indelible marks in the lives of each one of them. In search of the feelings that bind this jacket to the people who have loved it over the years Moncler has discovered a new definition, wishing it to reach as many peaks, goals and targets as it has already done.
