Moschino's next show will be a group effort
Four celebrity stylists to celebrate the brand's 40th anniversary

Following Jeremy Scott's resignation, Moschino is planning a runway show in Milan on 21 September to mark the brand's 40th anniversary and to honour "the remarkable achievements" of founder Franco Moschino "and his lasting legacy". Stylists Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele, Katie Grand, Gabriella Karefa-Johnson and Lucia Liu will lead this season's collection, each creating 10 contemporary looks inspired by Franco Moschino's histrionic archive. After ten years of artistic direction under Scott, the show is the first major event for the brand outside the designer's remit.
Moschino has yet to announce a successor to its latest creative director: Massimo Ferretti, chief executive of parent company Aeffe, is still considering candidates, according to WWD. Scott succeeded long-time creative director Rossella Jardini, who continued Franco Moschino's work for two decades. Aeffe's 2022 turnover was 352 million euros, up 8.4% from 325 million euros in 2021. Although the group does not break down turnover by brand, sources say Moschino accounts for 70% of total sales. Since then, Aeffe has held the licence to produce and distribute the brand's men's and women's collections. After the designer's death in 1994, Aeffe acquired 70% of the company and continued to develop the brand worldwide. However, the company will not take full control of Moschino until 2021, after paying €66.6 million for the remaining 30%. The group also acquired the licence for the internal production and distribution of Love Moschino's womenswear collections for 3.6 million euros and has control over the brand's distribution in mainland China, showing the growing importance of this market for the brand.
