One Block Down collaborated with the world's best hoodie brand
It is the elusive and almost unobtainable Camber USA, the Hermès of the sweatshirt world
May 5th, 2023
The streetwear world is full of collaborations, but there are some that, even in 2023, manage to bring niche realities into dialogue with much broader worlds. Such is the case with the new collaboration between One Block Down and Camber USA, wisely titled If You Know, You Know, since the sweatshirts of the Pennsylvania-based brand that still makes hoodies and sweatpants "the way it used to be," creating pieces that are not only extremely durable but formally perfect, are completely monochrome and devoid of any outwardly distinctive markings. The sweatshirts in the new capsule have one distinctive mark, a tiny co-branding on the left arm, but for everything else they are 100 percent part of the manufacturing ethos of Camber USA, which, in a previous article, we called the Hermès of the sweatshirt world.
The capsule includes all the major basics one can think of (t-shirts, hoodies, crewnecks, and pants) declined in the American brand's four most popular colorways, namely neutrals. The total appeal of the collaboration, for us Europeans, has to do with accessibility: Camber USA produces in tiny quantities, often only to order, and anyone ordering a sweatshirt on this side of the ocean has to wait four to eight weeks to get one. Things are different for those who live in the United States, of course, but Camber USA's presence is so limited and so cult-like in Europe that it is only through collaborations such as these that you can get your hands on the American brand's products.
