The new Balenciaga bag is a sneaker

A bag of chips, a garbage bag, or a supermarket bag: when it comes to bags, Balenciaga and Demna definitely know how to amaze, transforming everyday objects into accessories capable of winning headlines, especially for their uniqueness. Now, the next object to be transformed into a bag seems to be a sneaker, in particular, the iconic Track launched by Demna in 2019 and becoming one of the symbols of his creative direction in the Kering brand. During the Met Gala, the creative director of Balenciaga was immortalized with Alessandro Michele holding what apparently would seem to be just a simple sneaker (so much so that someone in the comments wondered if the designer was walking barefoot), but which is actually nothing more than the brand's next hit bag, renamed Track Sneaker Bag.

As if that weren't enough, confirmation also came from Nana Kang, the brand's bag designer, who posted a photo of Demna with Michele on her Instagram profile with the caption «Demna wearing the Track sneaker bag at Met Gala.» With the little material available, it is still difficult to understand the structure of the bag which, at least externally, seems to be identical to a classic sneaker, both in size and materials. The story is reminiscent of what happened before the Balenciaga Summer 2023 show when Demna was photographed carrying a bag of Lay's chips, which a few months later would appear on the catwalk as a bag.
