Bruno Sialelli leaves the creative direction of Lanvin
Central to the decision is the French brand's choice of a new creative organization
April 14th, 2023
Four years after his appointment, Bruno Sialelli has stepped down as creative director of Lanvin. As reported by WWD, at the heart of the decision would be the brand's decision to adopt a new creative configuration, as well as its intention to focus on leather goods and accessories as core categories. Among the new initiatives will be Lanvin Lab, a project that will involve talents from around the world as creative partners in what the brand has called an incubator of new ideas and concepts that will flank the main line. The first guest will be announced in the coming weeks.
Central to the reorganization will be the selection of a new creative team and support for leather goods and accessories, which to date account for more than half of the brand's overall business. It is unclear, however, whether Sialelli will have an actual heir or whether the brand will operate only through the new team, what is certain is that in any case, Lanvin will continue to be present in the Paris Fashion Week schedule.
However, the choice comes after the succession of three different managements that, since the arrival of Bruno Sialelli in 2019, have held the brand while changing its direction. Chosen by Jean-Philippe Hecquet, the designer then worked for fifteen months with Arnaud Bazin, to later answer to Siddhartha Shukla, who was appointed deputy general manager of Lanvin in December 2021. Since then, the brand has embarked on a new direction that apparently no longer includes Bruno Sialelli in the management cadre. For his part, with a resume that includes Loewe, Balenciaga with Nicolas Ghesquière, Acne Studios, and Paco Rabanne, Bruno Sialelli joins the list of big names ready to settle into a new brand.
