It will be called "Queer" and will star Daniel Craig

Jonathan Anderson made a surprise announcement this morning that he will be designing the costumes for Luca Guadagnino's next film, titled Queer and based on the short novel by William S. Burroughs written between 1951 and 1953 but not released until 1985. The story, which has autobiographical elements, is about an American expatriate in Mexico named Lee, who is expected to be played by Daniel Craig, who faces his doubts and insecurities and falls in love with a young Marine man named Allerton based on a real-life character, Adelbert Lewis Marker.
The new film, whose release date is unspecified and presumably is still in pre-production, will represent another step forward in Luca Guadagnino's relationship with the fashion world. Besides the fact that Jonathan Anderson had already announced that he would be designing costumes for another Guadagnino film starring Zendaya, Challengers, about which virtually nothing is known at the moment, the director already has collaborations under his belt with Raf Simons, who designed almost all of Tilda Swinton's costumes in I Am Love and provided many looks for We Are Who We Are, with Dior, who instead provided many costumes for A Bigger Splash, and also with Undercover's Jun Takahashi, who included scenes from his Suspiria in Undercover's FW19 collection.
