Cronenberg, Jarmusch, Almodóvar and Ferrara are the stars of the new Saint Laurent campaign
The dark and chic portrait of a quartet of film geniuses

Jim Jarmusch, Pedro Almodóvar, Abel Ferrara, David Cronenberg: these are not only some of the greatest directors of our generation, but also the protagonists of "The director's cut", Saint Laurent's new campaign for SS23. Shot by David Sims, the black and white images reveal, through a precise play of light and shadows, figures not normally seen on screen. The result is a darkly chic portrait of a quartet of nagging geniuses dressed all in black, their aloof faces obscured by thick, dark glasses.
Jim Jarmusch grabs a safety pin and carves lines into the surface of a desk, Pedro Almodóvar stares into the camera, Abel Ferrara contorts his face with creative contempt. Presumably Anthony Vaccarello has been watching the uproar caused by Prada's AI22 fashion show starring Jeff Goldblum and Kyle MacLachlan. Now he has turned his camera on those who usually rule behind the scenes, paying homage to a passion that often inspires him in the creation of his collections and strongly influenced his training during his years in Antwerp. In Almodòvar's case, the campaign celebrates a more ambitious partnership that anticipates the release of Strange Way of Life, a short western starring Ethan Hawke and Pedro Pascal, produced by the Saint Laurent fashion house, which of course also takes care of the creative side, dressing the film's protagonists.
