Twitter suspended the account that tracked Elon Musk's flights
So much for freedom of speech
December 15th, 2022
@ElonJet, the account that became famous because it tracked the routes of Elon Musk's private jet, has been banned from Twitter. The news, which began as a rumor, was confirmed by the account's founder, 20-year-old student Jack Sweeney, who personally acknowledged the account was suspended. At the moment it is unclear what led to @ElonJet's ban, while the only reasons the platform gives are «violation of Twitter rules.»

Musk, who bought Twitter for $44 billion a few months ago, had spoken from the start of his willingness to expand free speech on the social network - a phrase that now sounds ironic after the Tesla founder's decision. Last January, Jack Sweeney also revealed that he had received a $5,000 offer from Musk to close the account, news that, if confirmed, would make the new owner d Twitter's intention clear.
In recent months, the issue of private jets has been at the center of social news after some accounts began to pursue them, pointing out that some VIPs use them far too much for short journeys. While many have made it an issue of the environment and sustainable choices, those directly affected have spoken of violations of privacy and personal safety as a weapon to discredit the accounts in question. We are therefore not surprised that Musk, currently one of the most controversial figures in the tech world and beyond, has made such a radical and undoubtedly questionable decision.
