Gap will close its store in Milan for good
American brand says goodbye to the city after 12 years
August 31st, 2022
First it was Banana Republic's turn in 2017, then it was the turn of the Gap store in the Fiordaliso mall last year, now the bell is ringing for the mother ship that landed 12 years ago in Corso Vittorio Emanuele: the main Gap store in Milan will close its doors forever this fall. At the moment, the store's windows are covered with signs announcing the total liquidation of inventory and the resulting discounts.
The decision to abandon the city comes from the top: already a year ago, at the time of the closure of the Rozzano store, the company announced that it would limit its footprint in Europe; in the meantime, there had been agreements with OVS to divest its other Italian stores in a gradual pruning that will officially culminate next November, when the store's lease expires. It is currently unknown which brand will occupy the store-assuming there is one.
