After funding the completion of Ha'ramba, the first skatepark on the Gaza Strip for the entertainment of Gazawi youth, post-streetwear brand ANTI-DO-TO is taking its community to Cameroon to explore the power of music as tools of expression and redemption. Indeed, the brand has chosen to fully fund the implementation of a new music recording studio in the Deido neighborhood in Douala, supporting the initiative of Jail Time Records, the collective that runs the record label formed by prisoners and ex-prisoners founded in Douala's central prison.
«Thanks to ANTI-DO-TO we have been able to realize the dream of creating a recording studio outside of prison, and this for the artists of Jail Time Records definitely represents a real breakthrough,» said label founder Dione Roach. «Music has changed their lives in prison, but once they get out you need to be able to keep them focused. This is the most critical time. Having a place to get together, continuing to record for free, comforted and supported by those who know their reality well, means giving them a new life.»
From mid-May and for the next six months, by purchasing an item from the brand, 50 percent of the profits will go to the project. For the occasion, moreover, Federico Curradi curated a capsule collection in which their painting works made by prisoners in jail became the arwork with which Federico customized 11 ANTI-DO-TO items. Accompanying the launch of the project is a documentary made by the brand in which the stories of Steve Happi, Abdel, Kengol and many others are interwoven to testify to the importance of the project.
