HOMME PLISSÉ ISSEY MIYAKE FW22

A fabric a frame a structure: this is how the collection HOMME PLISSÉ ISSEY MIYAKE AUTUMN-WINTER 2022 "A WORK OF ARC" was born.  The collection adapts elements of its construction to the making of clothes: pleats like arches on a pleated canvas give rise to a new exploration of three-dimensional forms. By studying the relationship between folding, sewing and pleating, the collection develops original silhouettes that envelop the body and evoke the presence of a sculpture so alive that it seems as if it is about to move.

The video directed by Kyotaro Hayashi brings out quality and character in undiscovered garments. His bold and captivating direction slowly observes each garment as if it were a work of art. The pillars of this collection are varied: ARC is inspired by the shape of a curtain, when supported by curved poles. The folds of large arches made with the pleated fabric become the structure of garments with a strong sense of fluidity and roundness. BOW is inspired by the natural arch shape of a cloth stretched over and through a curtain. In the form of a garment, a piece of fabric lies freely on a silhouette that adapts to the body.

LANTERN is a series with a print that expresses the light of a lantern shining through a curtain. through many delicate pastel patterns. In contrast, FLIP COAT is made of woven fabric with an elastic weft yarn and features a simple silhouette with a soft and crisp structure. The hem can be folded down to the shoulders and secured with straps, transforming the coat into a light and voluminous jacket. FRAME COAT is a series of padded outerwear inspired by the construction of a tent. The design integrates the structure of the tent into the structure of the garment.
