Valentino's new Open for a Change project
A new sustainable line that has just presented its first two sneakers
January 18th, 2022
Valentino presented today the Open for a Change project that will see two of the brand's iconic sneakers, the Open and the Rockstud Untitled, redesigned in a sustainable and innovative version. The project was born as an internal laboratory of the brand, in which to experiment with new materials and technologies, including for example the bio-based and recycled materials with which the first two sneakers were produced, including, for example, the viscose and polyurethane eco-leather obtained from polyols derived from corn. These alternative materials are present in the upper of both models and part of the side band of the Open sneaker; the laces are entirely made of recycled polyester, while the studs on the upper of the Rockstud Untitled, are composed partly of recycled nylon. Sustainability also extends to packaging: from the 100% recycled cotton case, to the recycled paper of the boxes, coming from responsibly managed forests. The new Valentino Garavani Open for a Change project also has its own logo and a green colorway that will identify its products.
