Giorgio Armani has canceled his next shows due to Covid
Here we go again
January 4th, 2022
Giorgio Armani made the announcement, today, that the shows in the presence of Emporio Armani and Giorgio Armani scheduled for January 15 and 17 respectively will be canceled due to the new wave of infections of the Omicron variant. At the moment it would not seem to be planned digital versions of those same shows as in the case of last year and Armani's prudence has gone so far as to cancel the Privè show, that of Couture, which was supposed to take place at the end of the month in Paris. The news comes not even 24 hours after the entrance of Lombardy in the yellow zone, with wearing the mask both on the street and inside shops and other shops.
Over the past two years, Armani has been extremely cautious (as well as generous in donations) regarding the issue of the pandemic and infections – and so the timely cancellation of this January's show sounds like a red alert for the entire industry. For now, the way in which other brands will respond to the emergency remains in doubt: it is clear that, even if many of the preparations are already almost completed, a possible outbreak during a fashion show could easily become a PR disaster to be avoided at all costs. The next few days will clarify the situation better.
