Karl Lagerfeld's NFT in collaboration with Endless
Available from December 17 in two limited editions
December 16th, 2021
If in life he has always been a true innovator of the fashion system, it's no surprise that Karl Lagerfeld has become an NFT in a "cartoon" version created by London-based street artist Endless. Available from December 17th on THE DEMATERIALISED platform, the NFT will be released in two different versions: the first one composed by 500 pieces at a cost of 100€ each, while a second more limited one with only 7 pieces at 777€ each.
The purchase of NFTs will also allow access to an exclusive event in June next year hosted at the hôtel particulier in Paris, once home to Lagerfeld's original office. KLxENDLESS will offer its owners a unique experience, opening the door to what could be one of NFTs' many roles within the fashion world. "This launch represents a new and exciting chapter in our journey into the digital world. We are excited to present our first collaboration for an NFT, a hybrid experience that will further expand our digital community around the world," said Pier Paolo Righi, CEO of Karl Lagerfeld.
If, until now, the idea of NFTs has been tied solely to clothing and digital objects, the idea of creating digital art with the features of iconic characters seems like a new avenue to pursue. Torn between loyalty and monetization, the fashion system could find in the "commemoration" a further turning point in its relationship with digital art.
