Daniel Lee to leave Bottega Veneta
After just three years and a series of remarkable successes, Lee leaves the creative direction of the brand
November 10th, 2021
In an announcement as sudden as it was shocking, Kering announced that Daniel Lee will be leaving creative direction at Bottega Veneta. According to Kering's press release, the decision was shared by both sides although there are no official explanations explaining the reason for this decision. The designer declared: «“My time at Bottega Veneta has been an incredible experience. I am grateful to have worked with an exceptional and talented team and I am forever thankful to everyone who was part of creating our vision». Bottega Veneta CEO, Leo Rongone, said: «I would like to thank Daniel for his dedication to the House over the past three years. He provided Bottega Veneta with a fresh perspective and a new sense of modernity, while remaining respectful of the brand’s fifty-year heritage. The remarkable growth of the brand over the last three years bears testimony to the success of his creative work».
Daniel Lee is leaving #BottegaVeneta, just weeks after the big show in Detroit. No more BV green? No more pouch bag? Oh boy.

As things stand, the reason for Lee's farewell to the brand that projected his name into the Olympus of international fashion designers is incomprehensible. Among other things, in the recent earnings report for the third quarter of 2021, Bottega Veneta's financial performance was defined as «outstanding» and in fact even Vanessa Friedman, who announced the news a little while ago through her Twitter account, expressed dismay at Lee's departure.
