The new Chuck Taylor 70 by Converse x Slam Jam
Inspired by punk-rock and the 80s
September 24th, 2021
Converse and Slam Jam today announced the upcoming release of a new collaborative Chuck 70 that wants to celebrate the history and rich heritage that lie behind the legendary canvas sneaker. After being reworked by Converse in 2013, the classic Chuck 70 model has become a powerful cultural artifact and medium, infiltrating all levels of pop and youth culture and becoming one of the greatest footwear classics ever.
Specifically, the collaborative silhouette is inspired by the 80s – the era in which all the favorite punk-rock bands of slam Jam founder Luca Benini were born, who wore Converse on and off stage. The classic Chuck Taylor model has been deconstructed with frayed seams edges evoking a distressed aesthetic and the Slam Jam logo on the sides of the lined upper.
