Today, on the occasion of the opening of Milan Fashion Week Women's SS22, Benetton and Ghali officially presented their first collaboration, a capsule collection entitled United Color of Ghali. The singer has signed a collection of garments in the name of the mixture of cultures, in his case the Tunisian one, and the result is a clothing capsule that injects into Benetton's classic and everyday language color accents, writings in Arabic, moons, images related to the singer's biography, but also lettering, embroidery and graphics with a pop flavor – including a double label that sees the brand's lettering turn into scribble under its classic logo.
The first drop of the collection, which is coming on September 30th, will be followed by a second one in November and the desire to create a truly popular experience, which touches the youth communities of the main Italian cities has led Benetton to organize a tour of the Ghali Experience that will make the capsule collection discover the whole of Italy starting from Milan, and then move to Verona, Livorno, Arezzo, Naples, Bari, Lecce and finally Rome.
A highlight of the collection, in addition to the varsity jacket released in a limited edition and immediately sold out, are the sweatsuits decorated with an all-over microprint The fit of the garments is oversized, following to the end the streetwear inspiration that is perceived in all the items of the collection. Each look, then, also corresponds to accessories such as embroidered baseball hats, nylon backpacks but also athletic hijabs for girls. The fact that the categories in the collection are genderless and also cover categories usually ignored by many collaborations such as kidwear reflects the desire to create democratic fashion «that anybody can wear», as Ghali himself said.
