Will the Balenciaga x Fortnite collection start metaverse-fashion trend?

"Fortnite is fashion," Adam Sussman, president of Epic Games, has said in an interview with The Verge. Today, a few months later, Fortnite has unveiled a collaboration with Balenciaga in what is the first high fashion collection to debut in the Fortnite metatarsal.

The collection includes 4 skins declined in different styles and a selection of accessories, including a sneaker inspired by the Speed 3.0. The new items will be available both in Fortnite's storefront and in Balenciaga's creative hub called "Strange Times," a virtual store where digital cosmetics will also be available for purchase.

Gucci has already demonstrated together with Roblox that the price of a virtual bag can exceed the real one, today the collabo between Fortnite and Balenciaga confirms how much the relationship between real and virtual is fluid. Are we about to enter a new era of fashion?
