For their Spring/Summer 22 collection, Carlota Barrera brought the Spanish designer's heritage and values to the world of soccer to further consolidate the relationship between the worlds of sport and fashion. In their collaboration with New Balance Football, the jerseys of AS Roma, LOCS Lille, Athletic Club and FC Porto joined the outfits seen on the catwalk during the digital show at London Fashion Week. The collection references the relaxed atmospheres of 70s soccer with the brand's elegant and timeless approach.
Carlota Barrera introduces in her collection new essential pieces such as two-colour knitted polo shirts, T-shirts with messages inspired by homemade Word Art posters, shirts with spray-effect stripes and technical tailoring and outerwear. The reinvented, contemporary and timeless tailoring reappears in shades of green, off white and black with fluid trousers with vertical stripes appearing throughout the show. The worlds of football and fashion are now increasingly united in a bond represented above all by the efforts of many clubs in an attempt to bring a different approach to what is no longer just a sport. With their collaboration with New Balance Football for their show at London Fashion Week, Carlota Barrera continues to strengthen the brand's message, deeply focused on challenging stereotypes and working on exploring gender identities in constant evolution. The collection pushes to get rid of rigid codes and claims team play, celebrating the creation of communities based on trust and inclusion in all senses.
"As a brand with a very personal perspective, we share our approach (not just formal, but also emotional) to modern sportswear and our vision for how sports can create and nurture communities" said Carlota Barr
"Working closely with Carlota Barrera from the outset, we had a shared vision of extending the matchday story of a fan through a cultural perspective outside of football. The blend between the unique identities of our clubs and lifestyle shows through in every detail of the collection." Nicola Jones, Senior Marketing Manager, Global Football.
Filmed at a Boys School in London, the show further solidified the link between the worlds of fashion and football, making the game jersey a key item while showcasing its immense versatility. The digital show is available here.
