All the glasses of the Olympics
When style is also golden
August 2nd, 2021
Obviously it is Oakley to be the master, establishing itself as the absolute protagonist of the Olympics. Not only Team USA, but also the English Georgia Taylor-Brown, the Canadian sprinter Andre De Grasse and the new gold in the high jump Mutaz Essa Barshim showed off some models of the American brand, on all the Kato and the Sutro. In the volley the Italian DE.LA.RO dominates, also worn by the Lebanese athlete Ray Bassil and recognizable by the huge branding that stands out on the sides. Speech apart for Raven Saunders, the American athlete silver shot put to the headlines also for her look made of a Joker mask accompanied by a pair of glasses that definitely resemble those worn by Doc Brown in Back to the Future.
If the aerodynamic shapes are designed to help athletes during competitions, often the excessive looks of many glasses seem to have become the lowest common denominator in the final choice. Never as in these days have we noticed how accessories, including jewelry, have begun to take on a new meaning in the language and aesthetics of the athletes involved in Tokyo. They, unlike many colleagues from other sports, live the small privilege of being able to compete with accessories of any kind, contributing to the creation of recognizable looks that make incredible athletes even closer to mythological creatures.
