"C.P. Company 971 – 021. An informal history of Italian sportswear"
June 17th, 2021
2021 is and will be a year of great celebrations for C.P. Company, the brand that shaped the streetwear culture and that changed forever textile research worldwide, the brand founded exactly 50 years ago by Massimo Osti, then a young Bolognese graphic designer who created a simple T-shirt brand, Chester Perry.
From 1971 and for all the following decades, Osti experimented with a new style and introduced completely innovative production processes, giving shape to a sort of "worn-out look", inspired by military uniforms and workwear that would become the brand's hallmarks. Today C.P. Company traces its long history in the volume C.P. Company 971 - 021. An informal history of Italian sportswear, curated by Lodovico Pignatti Morano and with the photographic contribution of Neil Bedford.
The monograph tells the story of the brand through the personal stories of fifty personalities strongly connected to the brand, from historical designers such as Moreno Ferrari, Paul Harvey and Alessandro Pungetti, to Massimo Osti's family, close friends, up to fans and collectors of different generations and parts of the world. The volume also serves as a glossary with the main design and production techniques of C.P. Company, highlighting moments, innovations, techniques and fabrics that express the spirit of the brand by talking about its relevance within the fashion industry.
