May 7th, 2021
Always in perfect balance between the highest sporting performance and pure aesthetic avant-garde and trendsetter taste, Oakley unveils now its latest innovation. The Oakley Kato frame is the result of extraordinary progress in the field of optical design, a product created to revolutionise the face of sports.
Oakley Kato is an innovative, wraparound and high-grip frameless model that adapts to the face's contours creating a mask effect. During the development of the item, a prototype of the frame was provided to a select group of athletes, including Patrick Mahomes, Mark Cavendish, Nigel Sylvester and Joseph Newgarden, who had the opportunity to test Oakley's Kato endurance and performance. Thanks to their feedback, the brand has subsequently finalized the definitive model, which is characterized by an adjustable inclination system and multiple fins, designed to offer an impeccable and totally personalized fit. The frame is complemented by lightweight but strong O Matter™ temples and Prizm™ lenses, designed to optimize colours and contrasts for a richer view of detail.
Oakley unveiled its latest innovation through an augmented reality experience involving Team Oakley athletes, including Juju Smith-Schuster, Mikaela Shiffrin, Mark Cavendish, Rohit Sharma, Seth "Scump" Abner, Valentino Rossi and Patrick Mahomes, who received a mysterious package with timed instructions. The journey into augmented reality began by opening doors similar to those of a spaceship, revealing the revolutionary frame, in a unique experience that combines physical, digital and social languages and technologies.
