The retrofuturism of the new ACROMOUNT™ Series by Onitsuka Tiger
Silhouettes inspired by the 1970s archive designs reinterpreted by Andrea Pompilio

The new life that the arrival of Andrea Pompilio brought to Onitsuka Tiger with his creative direction moves through a skilful reinterpretation of the brand's historical archive. An evolution that has been going on for years and has gone from apparel and fashion – but that has not ignored sneakers, cornerstone of Onitsuka Tiger's DNA. The latest ACROMOUNT™ collection launched by the brand as part of its SS21 collection is further confirmation of this incredible modernization and redefinition work carried out by Pompilio – a collection that collects the legacy of Onitsuka Tiger's 70s designs and relaunches it to create a new line of modern sneakers composed of three different models.
The combination of fabric and leather with a vintage aftertaste is the foundation of the aesthetics of the basic ACROMOUNT™ models with a low cut – related to the ACROMOUNT™ MT models characterized instead by the medium cut and the most futuristic shape. The design of the sole has a thin and voluminous forefoot section, inspired by the shape of the athletics shoes of the 1970s, and has been recombined using a mix of light sponge and rubber. A step further in pompilio's creative reworking is the ACROMOUNT™ KNIT model, equipped with tops composed of woven material that ensures an adaptable and modern fit. The best detail, however, are the lines on the upper, used in onitsuka Tiger's vintage training jackets and applied on the sneaker mixing the heritage with a decidedly more fashionable optics.
