The Prada group, which in addition to the famous brand and Miu Miu also includes Church's, Car Shoe and Marchesi, is the first luxury conglomerate to join The Valuable 500, an international association that deals with promoting the inclusion of people with disabilities within company organizations. Prada and the association will work on a long-term plan that will begin with the hiring of individuals with trisomy 21 (Down syndrome) within their retail network.
The Prada group's membership sets an important precedent for the world of luxury mega-groups and could represent the beginning of a positive trend for billionaire fashion multinationals. The world of fashion and luxury is in fact no stranger to the initiatives of The Valuable 500, to which brands and retailers such as Burberry, Calvin Klein, Farfetch and the PVH group have already joined. Lorenzo Bertelli, head of CSR for the Prada group said:
«I actively supported the decision to join this project because I firmly believe in the value of diversity. The plurality of sectors from which the signatory companies come is itself a value and the fundamental starting point for developing an effective action plan on a global scale from which we will all benefit».
