The new sacai x Nike Vaporwaffle by Jean-Paul Gaultier
Part of the collabo between the Japanese designer Chitose Abe and JPG
January 22nd, 2021
Last year the founder of sacai Chitose Abe was the first guest designer chosen by Jean-Paul Gaultier to work on his Couture line, originally scheduled for 2020 but arriving late due to the pandemic. Waiting to discover Abe's work on the new JPG line, some images of the new sacai x Nike Vaporwaffle created by the Japanese designer together with Jean-Paul Gaultier have surfaced online.
Although some details may seem similar to the versions already on the market, this couture version of the sneaker focuses on the mix of materials, combining nylon, suede and leather divided by a series of eye-catching seams that cross the entire shoe. The silhouette is also higher than usual, evoking some Nike models such as the Terminator and the Court Force, while the double tongue returns, this time enriched by the JPG brand.
