Ronnie Fieg x ASICS's new "The Palette" capsule
The iconic GEL-Lyte III returns in 30 different colorways
November 26th, 2020
Black Friday brought Ronnie Fieg of Kith and ASICS together once again for a new capsule that returns to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the GEL-Lyte III silhouette. The collection, called "The Palette", rethinks the historical model of ASICS as a palette of thirty different shades, all taken from the colour schemes used by Fieg in his collections for Kith.
The upper of the sneakers is composed of premium suede leather with contrasting outsole. The cantilevered number "30" on the tip is dedicated instead to the model's anniversary, while Fieg's name appears on the left side. The colours range from the "Chalk" shade, which is the lightest, to a "Dusty Mauve" and the "Triple Black". All seen together, the sneakers represent a kind of hymn to the concept of muted colourway as well as a minimalist/cosy declination of one of the main lifestyle silhouettes of ASICS.
Many, however, might have noticed a certain resemblance between Fieg's capsule and the one created by Pharrell Williams with adidas, who with the Supercolor collection had reiterated the silhouette of the Superstar in almost every possible nuance, playing on the concept of shade and chromatic scheme.
