The digital edition of Fashion Graduate Italia 2020
The event that celebrates the young designers of the Italian fashion academies
September 23rd, 2020
Fashion week, wherever it takes place, is much more than an opportunity for the biggest and most famous brands to flaunt their resources in titanic fashion shows – but it can (and must) also be the perfect springboard for a young generation of designers who, having come to the end of their studies, face the future. An event like Fashion Graduate Italia, now in its fourth edition, is the ideal platform for these emerging designers – a platform that this year is digital, with eleven events live streaming, one for each school that is part of the Piattaforma Sistema Formativo Moda and in collaboration with CNMI.
The participation of CNMI makes the Fashion Graduate Italia 2020 a truly unique type of occasion, as rightly pointed out by the president of Piattaforma Sistema Formativo Moda Donato Medici, who told nss magazine:
«With this initiative CNMI and PSFM share the importance of communicating between two worlds that of the maisons and the educational landscape in continuous collaboration. This collaboration, I dare say unique worldwide, will directly benefit our young students».
A relevant opportunity at an unprecedented historical moment like the one the world is going through now. The lockdown and the temporary crisis of the luxury industry, as well as the general movement to promote inclusivity and diversity that has overwhelmed the fashion world, make these times as chaotic as they are subject to sudden and unexpected changes. It is precisely in these kinds of moments that great fortunes are built. This was the view of the vice-president of the PSFM, Matteo Secoli, who said:
«Fashion is constantly evolving by definition and today more than ever it is constantly changing: the current scenario dictated by the health emergency linked to the Covid-19 is speeding up the time and process of transformation of the sector. The trend, in my opinion, is a refocusing on a fashion more conscious, less fast and more to live, combined with the drive to exploit the enormous potential that digital can offer in support of the sector».
Starting tomorrow, a new section will be activated on the milan Fashion Week website, the Italian Education Hub, the result of the synergy between the Italian National Chamber of Fashion and the PSFM, which will enhance the italian fashion schools system at national and international level and promote its meeting with the fashion industry. The Italian Education Hub will host the two events dedicated to fashion training in Italy: Fashion Graduate Italia by PSFM and Milano Moda Graduate by CNMI that will close the schedule instead.
Within the digital room dedicated to Fashion Graduate Italia 2020, the individual participating schools will present the digital performances, creativity and talent of their students. Images of student collections will be shown through photo lookbooks and, above all, the individual Fashion Films made by each school will be shown live to tell about their creative philosophy and student collections; the films will then remain available to the public and visible for the entire Fashion Week.
