Fred Perry presents the new Reissues collection
A faithful reinterpretation of the brand's great archival classics
July 31st, 2020
In 1966 Fred Perry, the former tennis player (three times Wimbledon champion) and founder of the brand that bears his name, was invited by the manager of an English football team to participate in a team training session. On that occasion, the new entrepreneur managed to observe closely the colour palette of the sportswear worn by the players: red, white and blue, a strong reference to the English national flag that inspired him in the creation of a dedicated line.
More than fifty years after that first meeting, today the brand, a symbol of sportswear and streetwear Made in England, has taken inspiration from its archives and presents the Autumn-Winter 2020/21 collection by Reissues, the line that season after season reinterprets the great classics from the brand's archive and remake them with the same fabrics and colours as the original models. The new collection is functional, inspired by the sports uniforms of the Sixties (in particular those worn by local football teams) and the details that made them iconic, such as raglan sleeves.
