Vogue celebrates Met Gala Monday with a digital event
It will be called "A Moment With the Met" and Virgil Abloh will participate and Florence will participate in The Machine
May 4th, 2020
The first Monday in May is traditionally held the Met Gala, organized by Anna Wintour, one of the most important fashion events of the year dedicated to raising money for the Costume Institute of the Met. After the news of the cancellation of this year's edition due to the Covid-19 pandemic, however, Vogue has organized a digital alternative to the event, open to all and entitled A moment with the Met, to be held today, live-streamed on YouTube starting at 00:00, Italian time, and will see Virgil Abloh perform with a DJ Set and a show of Florence + The Machine.
The actual livestream will be preceded by a series of video content that will be published starting at 16:00 and will include a video by Naomi Campbell and a list of the best looks of past years. Tomorrow, however, the event will continue with a series of talks that will feature Cardi B, Jeremy Scott, Liv Tyler and Stella McCartney that will delve into the history of the event remembering the best moments. Here's what Anna Wintour said about the initiative:
“It would be impossible to recreate the gala on Monday evening, though I have loved hearing how so many are marking the occasion in their own ways. So instead, I asked a few friends to join me for a simple moment—one that I hope will bring us all a bit of joy”.
Proceeds from A moment with the Met will be donated in part to the Costume Institute and partly to the charity fund A Common Thread, founded by Vogue to support the fight against Covid-19. Instead, you can find the official program of the digital event on the official page of Vogue.
