The new J Balvin x Air Jordan 1 seen at Super Bowl
The first Air Jordans made in collaboration with a latino artist
February 3rd, 2020
After his recent collaboration with BAPE, J Balvin has revealed to the world the aspect of his new collaboration with Nike by bringing it to the Super Bowl stage: the J Balvin x Air Jordan 1. This is an important collaboration both because J Balvin is the first Latin artist called to collaborate on the iconic silhouette of Jordan and because the sneaker has undergone a radical makeover. There is no information yet on the release date, but their appearance on the Super Bowl stage suggests a commercial launch not too far away.
The first and most flashy feature of the J Balvin x Air Jordan 1 is the upper. In addition to its texturized appearance and being colored in a rainbow gradient colorway, the panel's hems appear exaggerated and with obvious cuts. Particularly on the shoe tip, around the Swoosh and on the heel the panels are zigzagged. Other details include J Balvin's smiley at the heel and on the tongue of the left sneaker. Introducing them on Instagram, the singer commented:
“I'm latino and proud. But don't put us in a box, we are global”.
The J Balvin x Air Jordan 1 has so far made its official Super Bowl debut but there is no official release news yet. Stay connected to nss magazine for all the news on the launch date.
