The attractive simplicity of Jacquemus
The new aesthetic master of minimalism
January 20th, 2020
The latest Simone Porte Jacquemus collection seems to be a return to its origins.
For the designer Simon Porte Jacquemus, the collections always come from a personal place, and this season was inspired by an episode from his childhood, in which Simon was a child who made a skirt for his mother: "when I was 7 years old I took a linen curtain and I made a skirt for my mother, "says Simon.
The collection presents itself with the title 'Year 97': Soft, romantic, tone-on-tone colors ranging from white to olive green and which best express the overwhelming simplicity of the brand.
The shapes are dry: the woman characterized by body-with and micro-top skirts and the man with oversized jackets and wide trousers, a strong return to the fit of the 80s.
Simone's distinctive elements: draping, sensual overlapping and delicate softness of linen and chenille fabrics.
A perpetuated minimalism: the now famous 'Chiquito' micro bag, presented for the first time in a male version, and new models of fanny packs to be worn on the shoulder.
