Raf Simons' new sS20 collection campaign
The name of the collection is "My Own Private Antwerp"
January 15th, 2020
After leaving his role as creative director at Calvin Klein in January 2019, Raf Simons is ready to return to the spotlight. The designer has just presented the tenth capsule in collaboration with Eastpak and, above all, announced the upcoming presentation of a capsule of sneakers called Runner that will be unveiled during his next Paris show. While waiting for the show, images from the SS20 "My Own Private Antwerp" collection campaign appeared. The shots, by Willy Vanderperre with the styling of Olivier Rizzo, perfectly embody the spirit of a collection that explores the themes of alienation and protest against capitalism inspired by the grunge looks of My own private Idaho, a film directed in 1991 by Gus Van Sant.
Despite the minimalism of the campaign, in addition to Simons' creations, there is a rampant horse inside an inverted green triangle reminiscent of the Ferrari logo. It actyally is the logo of R&S Records, already honored by the designer during the last show of his brand. The legendary Belgian record label established itself as the star of the techno scene in the late 1980s, but achieved worldwide success in the 1990s with outsider and innovative artists such as Aphex Twin.
