Off-White™ and the Musée du Louvre collaborate on a capsule collection
In occasione dei 500 anni dalla morte di Leonardo da Vinci
December 16th, 2019
On December 13th, Off-White™ and the Louvre dropped a capsule collection inspired by the works and figure of Leonardo da Vinci. This is in fact the 500th year since the death of the great Italian artist, which the largest museum in the world celebrated with a major retrospective exhibition that will remain open until next February 24th. For this occasion, Abloh designed a series of t-shirts and hoodies that mix Off-White™'s iconography with that of Leonardo's paintings and drawings.
Here's how Virgil Abloh commented on the collaboration:
“I want to crash together these two worlds that are seemingly different: fashion and high art. It’s a crucial part of my overall body of work to prove that any place, no matter how exclusive it seems, is accessible to everyone. That you can be interested in expressing yourself through more than one practice and that creativity does not have to be tied to just one discipline. I think that Leonardo da Vinci was maybe the first artist to live by that principle, and I am trying to as well”.
