Kangol and One Block Down revisit one of hip hop's most popular items
The iconic Furgora Bucket Hat is the protagonist of the capsule
December 11th, 2019
One Block Down celebrates its tenth anniversary by launching a collaboration with Kangol. The Italian retailer and the English brand present a new version of the iconic Furgora Bucket Hat. The item, available in black and white, is enriched by a graphic that combines the logos of the two partners.
Kangol was founded in 1930 in the northwest of Great Britain when Polish Jacques Spreiregen started to import Basques from France. The company was immediately successful and became popular in the 1950s, revisited in its characteristic dome-shaped form. Since then, everyone started wearing it, from the Beatles to Princess Diana, although the item became truly iconic following the birth of the hip hop movement. Major names in the scene such as Notorious B.I.G., LL Cool J., Eminem or stylish actors such as Samuel L. Jackson started showing it off at every gig, movie or event, bringing the hat into history. The name? It comes from the fusion of three words: K stands for silk, ANG for angora, OL for wool. Only when Spreiregen understood the importance of the logo, he started using the assonance with the term kangaroo.
The items of the collection are now available at the price of € 85 exclusively in One Block Down physical stores and online.
