UNIQLO launches its fourth collab with JW Anderson
A new concept of LifeWear
October 17th, 2019
A month after the opening of its first Italian store in Milan, UNIQLO launches today its collection in collaboration with JW ANDERSON. The theme of the new collab, the fourth by the two brands, is "The Great British Outdoors" and is inspired by the rural landscapes of Cornwall and in particular by the city of st. Ives, an artistic town setting of the Ulysses Moore novels.
The philosophy of UNIQLO, summed up in the concept of LifeWear, thus joins the traditional British style and the fresh taste of the Northern Irish designer, for a collection that preserves elements of classicism rethought according to the Japanese values of simplicity and longevity, in addition to the idea of a product that is perfectly harmonious.
Reworked are the classic garments and elements of the English style, such as the tartan motif, which appears on skirts, fleeces, underwear, and accessories. The classicism and elegance of casual items are enlivened by touches of color that make the collection more contemporary and versatile. As in previous seasons, there is no lack of reversible garments, with a double solution of contrasting colors to give the collection greater versatility and therefore usefulness in the everyday life. The idea of practicality is one of the key aspects of the FW19 and is also reflected in the choice of fabrics and details. HEATTECH fleece pants, AIRism leggings, zips, and belts are details designed for simpler daily use while maintaining high aesthetic standards. UNIQLO's minimalism brings the style of JW Anderson in the dimension of an everyday fashion, with many artistic cues and conceived as an alternative to a certain idea of basic retail and poor quality.
