Following many hints, MARKERAD, the furniture collection designed by Virgil Abloh x Ikea is finally coming to the stores. DJ, designer, artist, the founder of Off-White is ready to show another side of his eclectic talent with a series of “inexpensive yet fashionable” items for the home, designed to give an artistic touch to millennials boring homes. The idea at the heart of the collaboration is to combine the worlds of “contemporary art culture, street art and IKEA product design”. The items that will be available in Ikea stores from November 1st include carpets (the most expensive accessories), mirror, chair, table, sofa, clock and many more, including a small kit of tools.
“There’s always an underlying message in my creations. A little bit of irony – and a human connection.”
Abloh said a long time ago about his works and, looking at the ticket carpet, it's easy to read this aspect also in his new collection.
