Airbnb makes its debut in the fashion world
With a sleepwear collection designed with Phillip Lim
July 19th, 2019
Airbnb expands its interests and debuts in the world of fashion with the help of 3.1 Phillip Lim. The brand and the home-sharing and short term rentals portal have joined forces to create a limited-edition collection of sleepwear inspired by travel. Lim is enthusiastic about the project and explains:
The Airbnb x 3.1 Phillip Lim collaboration is my interpretation of the modern nightwear wardrobe designed for travelers. It was fun to collaborate with Airbnb by combining two of my greatest passions: fashion and travel. I'm particularly proud of this collection because we worked with eco-sustainable fabrics to create innovative sleepwear with the classic 3.1 cut, inspired by 3 of my favorite destinations in the United States: Nashville, Palm Springs and Catskills. Always cool, easy and chic, all the pieces in the collection take the modern citizen from a daily dimension to an adventure trip.
The result is three models of pyjamas for men and for women with patterns that evoke the landscapes of those places. For example, for Nashville, synonymous with country and kitsch music, the designer opted for an animal print, a tribute to the city's rock'n'roll glam aesthetic. Palm Springs, famous for its modernism and for being the holiday destination of many Hollywood stars of the past, inspired a vintage print with palm trees. The serene nature of the Catskills is represented by the classic gingham check.
Each piece is versatile, designed not only to sleep but also to be worn every day, perhaps with jeans or mixed with other items of our wardrobe. The collection is available on the official website of 3.1 Phillip Lim. The proceeds of each sale will be devolved to the association Children in Conflict, active in Iraq, Yemen, Congo and the Central African Republic.
