Burberry Resort Collection 2020
The classic aesthetic of the brand meets streetwear
May 24th, 2019
Since Riccardo Tisci became creative director of Burberry, the brand has started to combine its classic aesthetic with forays into streetwear, exploring different souls. For the Resort 2020 collection, the designer said he had experimented with:
“the breadth of the attitude of Burberry in mind, and this idea of uniforms. I wanted to start to play with more extreme versions of the classic and fashion sides that I’ve been focusing on with my work here.”
So he proposed tailored dresses, trench coats, elegant tuxedos and other sophisticated and ladylike garments, refreshing them with a group of more sporty items such as joggers, varsity style bomber jackets, but made with animal prints, down jackets with graphics all-over and abstract illustrations (inspired by the graffiti that appear in the Burberry flagship store in Bond Street), bucket hats.
British tradition meets contemporary style without losing its charm, on the contrary gaining coolness. The new era led by Tisci takes the house beyond the rigid boundaries dictated by its iconic items, from Thomas Burberry's monogram to tartan, directing it towards a more fluid, young and capable of contamination fashion. A choice of style that will surely make a breakthrough among the younger generations.
