The Converse x TAKAHIROMIYASHITATheSoloist capsule collection
Inspired by the Converse Jack Purcell
May 22nd, 2019
In 1935 Jack Purcell, a popular Canadian badminton player designed a shoe for Converse dedicated to his discipline, which is considered one of the most popular sneakers to this day.
In fact, it has inspired a capsule collection for the SS19 created by the American brand in collaboration with TAKAHIROMIYASHITATheSoloist. The result is two new versions of the Jack Purcell characterized by a canvas upper with the " Stars and Bars " graphic (print introduced by Converse in 1991): one coloured and the other in black and white. Both are equipped with an asymmetrical lacing covered with a removable zip and a translucent outsole with Miyashita's motto "Hello! I Am The Soloist. Hello! Hello, Hello".
The capsule includes moreover a selection of minimalist clothing, with a rebel twist that characterises a lightweight GORE-TEX® jacket, a short-sleeved T-shirt and a hoodie. All feature stylized zippers, eyelets and lacing reminiscent of Jack Purcell.
The Converse x TAKAHIROMIYASHITATheSolist collection has items ranging from €75 to €400, available from May 23 at selected retailers and on Converse.com.
