Moncler Genius releases its new 'Noir' collection
Wearable Geometry designed by Kei Ninomiya
May 9th, 2019
Moncler's innovative Genius project continues with its fifth designer drop of the year. The project which has since its inauguration last year built on the concept of taking various contemporary designers and letting them design a capsule each for the iconic Moncler brand. Circumventing the traditional bi-annual release schedule with more streetwear oriented drops coming every couple of months.
Starting the year with Craig Green, 1952, Simone Rocha, and Hiroshi Fujiwara, the turn has now come for this year's collection from Japanese designer and Comme des Garçons alumni, Kei Ninomiya. Reinventing by repetition, modularity and geometric abstraction, his pieces are the resulting sum of small modules, multiplied and held together by miniature metal rings. An industrial-looking technique made possible by many hours of painstaking manual labor. The all-black line also features chains, petals, and ultra-sound logos, creating forms that are at the same time tough, yet feminine, in prodominatly leather and nylon.
Stay looked for the upcoming Genius collections that this years sees the new and highly antiscipated additions of Matthew Williams of 1017 ALYX 9SM’s and Richard Quinn. Out today the new Moncler Genius 6 'Noir' Kei Ninomiya collection is available via the Moncler site and their flagship stores worldwide now.
