Adidas Running and Missoni unites for a limited edition capsule collection
High performance meets creativity
April 25th, 2019
Innovation, creativity, meticulous craftsmanship. The first collaboration between Adidas Running and Missoni is based on these shared values. This partnership celebrates the innovation and craftsmanship of both companies, as witnessed by the story of Ottavio Missoni, co-founder of the Italian brand and athlete who represented his nation at the 1948 London Olympics in the final of the 400-metre hurdles. Angela Missoni remembers:
The story of this collaboration started from the idea that both our companies’ founders were amazing craftsmen that were constantly pushing the limits of their industry. [...] My father Ottavio took part in the 1948 London Olympics and the previous year he had made wool tracksuits with the first zips on his ankles, so a runner could remove his pants without taking off his spiked cleats.
Together, the two brands create a capsule collection that includes both a line of running shoes and a selection of sportswear, all characterized by the unmistakable "flamed" pattern of the Italian label and the high performance of adidas. The German company has reworked its classic Ultraboost sneaker model with a knitted upper made using Missoni Space-dying technique that allows for different colour combinations, meanwhile, the Boost midsole maximizes the return of energy from impact with the ground. The offer is completed by the primeknit Cru T-shirt, the Phx sports jacket and the Marathon 10 shorts, available in two unique colours, multicolour or black and white.
Each piece of the limited-edition capsule collection is available on the Missoni website and in Missoni boutiques and on adidas.com with prices ranging from €100 to €300 for clothing and €250 for sneakers.
