Hip-hop and Californian vibes in the new SELF MADE collection
Along with a collaboration with Sergio Tacchini
March 29th, 2019
The hand embroidered 3d graphics in silk thread is the benchmark of SELF MADE, a brand created by Gianfranco Villegas, Italo-Filippino designer graduated at Polimoda Fashion School in Florence. The name of the brand itself is a reference to Villegas's turbulent childhood, a tough period he has decided to exorcise through fashion.
It's my personal diary where every day I write my story, my struggle, my feelings and where I came from...
After presenting the previous collection during Paris Fashion Week, SELF MADE reveals now the SS19 proposal, which includes an unexpected collaboration with one of the most well-known Italian sportswear brands, Sergio Tacchini. The mood of the collection is inspired by '90s hip-hop and the Californian vibes: the line consists of oversized T-shirts and shorts, denim total looks, colourful tracksuits and captivating graphics.
SELF MADE reworks some of the most iconic Sergio Tacchini pieces with mainly black graphics and slogans in contrast with the white suits of the Italian brand. A certain retro touch is still visible in the silhouettes and in the prints, enriched by the logo of Tacchini joined by the one of SELF MADE.
