Moncler Genius releases 'The Next Chapter' Simone Rocha collection
Romantic and ethereal silhouettes
February 28th, 2019
We recently reported on how the absolute highlight of Milan Fashion Week was the extravagant and high-quality presentation of Moncler’s continuation of their Genius project, under the banner 'One House, Different Voices'. The Genius project, which in its first round took on seven contemporary designers to have them each create their own unique visions of Moncler rich DNA. Hiroshi Fujiwara, Craig Green, Simone Rocha, Kei Ninomiya, and Palm Angels, along with the in-house collections Grenoble and 1952 were expanded with the new additions of Matthew Williams and Richard Quinn. Set to start releasing their collections towards summer, we still have a few collections before round off their preceding, “The Next Chapter” Genius collections.
Dropping today we see Simone Rocha’s turn once again to present another unique collection of female silhouettes. The collection 4 MONCLER SIMONE ROCHA is inspired by the world of gardens and gardening and reinterprets the Heritage of Moncler through sophisticated imagery and is decidedly feminine. By working with super lightweight nylon, dolmias and taffetas, but also with PVC and tulle, Rocha creates romantic and ethereal silhouettes embellishing them with buds, flounces and embroidery. Her take on the classic Moncler down jacket is played around with several layers of ruffles, beads, sequins, prints, floral applications, and handmade embroideries, with the trench enriched with voluminous sleeves or made from PVC. The embroidered boots and gardening gloves give the whole range a quirky touch, functionality and femininity mingle and blend like the palette of blacks and neutral tones accented with sudden flashes of red.
