Sacai has revisited one of Nike's most iconic silhouettes, Daybreak.
In 1984, Joan Benoit Samuelson won the first female marathon in the history of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles with the Daybreaks at her feet, forever changing the world of female running.
The release of the Nike LDV Waffle is one of the most anticipated of the year, and will be released in two different colorways: "Green Taste / Black-Varsity Maize-Safety Orange" and "Varsity Blue / Del Sol-Varsity Red-Black". The reinterpretation sees the insertion of materials such as suede on the heel and around the laces with the addition of leather on multiple layers; two Swoosh to characterize the shoe and the upper composed entirely of breathable mesh fabric; also the laces have undergone a modification becoming double and stacked while the protrusion of the midsole is made of EVA-foam, a material that derives from the processing of thermoplastic resins and calcium carbonates. The addition of the Waffle sole made up by Bill Bowerman, co-founder of Nike, in 1974 perfectly blends history and innovation.
