The sneaker of the new Gucci FW19 collection
Also volleyball inspires the latest Alessandro Michele fashion show
February 20th, 2019
Eyes on the Gucci catwalk, that hosted the Italian return of Alessandro Michele. A very Michelian" collection, with references to the '70s, the Victorian age, gothic art and the concept of identity and individualism that remain faithful to the style that the Roman designer has accustomed us to. The fact that he used us very well had raised expectations for him and we can not say we can be satisfied to the end. While remaining devoted supporters of Michele's ability to create a trend beyond already beaten paths, the spark of love that we expected was not triggered. Among all the items in the collection, including studded masks, accessories, bags and very theatrical make-up, even sportswear has influenced the collection, very direct in the sources and references, taken from the world of volleyball. An unusual theme but also justified by the knee-pads worn by the models on the catwalk, with the double-G logo.
The volleyball shoes have the characteristic of having a very flat sole, with an outsole in rubber, often evident, which facilitates adherence to the ground and elasticity during the jump. This structure is in fact resumed in the shoe presented by Gucci, proposed in 3 different colorway. The sole is composed of 4 blocks of color, which define the volume of the sole and contrast chromatically. The upper is elaborated on several layers and composed of different materials, the heel in fake snakeskin (Gucci has renounced last year to furs and natural leathers), is united to sections in mesh and suede on the side of the shoe, inside which the Gucci writing in white is inserted. The logo of the Florentine fashion house also appears in the rubber that makes up the sole, near the laces and inside the volt details, that finish the upper. The shoe parade on the catwalk brought in the hand by the model, which finishes the look with the black knee pads with white stitching, to complete the references to the sporting world of the FW19 collection.
The other two colorways, are less in the foreground, especially the one with the yellow sole, and white and electric pink upper, hidden by the oversize fit of the trousers. The latest version is darker, and perhaps the most striking of the 3, characterized by dark shades of gray and black, which contrast with the green of the sole, once again in the highlighter tones.
