Fiorucci SS19: Here’s the lookbook

Fiorucci is back, with new English owners who promised to combine the iconic nature of his golden age with a contemporary attitude. Observing the first collections presented and, in particular, the lookbook for the SS19, it seems, however, that the objective has not yet been achieved. The latest proposals include a mood mash-up between sixties and nineties and strong street influences. The silhouettes become thinner, they become more adherent, despite the presence of sweatshirts and trousers of the suit and to make special many of the outfits proposed in the lookbook are tie dye prints and floral motifs, with some concession to the mania logo. There are the bucket hat and cycling shorts, cult pieces for the next hot season, but the most interesting element is the cropped denim jacket, often paired with patterned trousers. All right. All nice, but too compliant with the proposals of any teen or low-coast brand. We do not talk about materials, just style.

Elio Fiorucci (we told you his legendary story a short time ago) was perhaps the first real cool hunter in the history of fashion, he was the one who dictated the style, always looking for something unique, new, fresh. Always a step ahead of others. This is why he has made his store and his brand famous and for this has inspired people like Jean Paul Gaultier or Marc Jacobs. There is nothing wrong with incorporating street elements or cycling pants, the problem is that from an innovative brand (but always easy and ironic) to propose a garment just because trendy, without irony or a single twist, is too little . We all love Fiorucci and hope that the next collection will remind us why.
