Stone Island announces two new jackets for winter In Harris Tweed and Man Made Suede

As the seasons are getting colder it is time to start thinking about those warmer jackets for fall and winter. When keeping out cold there are few materials as effective as wool, especially when woven as tweed, and no brand is as iconic as Harris Tweed. It is thus very exciting that Harris Tweed has produced a jacket in collaboration with Stone Island. Always ready to push things further, Stone Island has developed an exclusive tweed, consisting in dyeing 8 different colors of wool, to then be united in a single yarn and twisted by hand into a twill base.

Its incredible variety and depth of color are obtained through the dyeing of the wool in its initial state, before being spun. The focus of the concept is that of interchangeability - the outer shell is equipped with a zipper and velcro system that allows pockets placed on the detachable inner chest to be worn also on the outside tweed.

The removable hood and the pockets are made out of the new Polymorphic Ice material, a cotton base heat-sensitive coating that changes color as the temperature drops, with a color spectrum aimed to match that of the dyed tweed.

Along with the tweed jacket, Stone Island is also releasing a new Parka in Man Made Suede, achieving, for the first time in history, to dignify a coagulated material through garment dyeing, and then treated to achieve the final suede aspect. The addition of a special agent to the dye recipe makes the garment anti-drop. The Suede-look garments are made through an elaborate industrial process applied to a non-woven, nylon microfiber and polyurethane resin. The lining is detachable and acts as Nylon bomber with teddy lining that is also reversible.

The Man Made Suede jacket is available now and the tweed jacket will be available on sale from Thursday 25 October exclusively in Stone Island flagships and online from 16:00.
